Richard J. Gloyd

Richard J Gloyd, 89, died on April 1, 2024 at his home in Holland, PA.

Beloved husband of the late Ann Silvinskas Gloyd, the couple had been married for 36 years at the time of Ann’s death in 2002. He was the son of the late Richard Gloyd and Frieda Unruh Gloyd and brother of the late Thomas Gloyd and Jane R Shuhart.

Loving father to Susan M and Frederick Salberta and Karen A Gloyd; grandfather to Sarah and Daniel Salberta. He graduated from Bensalem High School and attended teacher’s college at East Stroudsburg University and University of Michigan and started his career as a school teacher and football coach at Council Rock High School before going into the security and alarm business, which he worked to expand for over thirty years. He loved golfing and traveling to Florida in the winter in his retirement years and loved going to Thursday nights pinochle at the club. He will be remembered for his love of life, optimistic spirit, love for his lifelong friends, and his love and devotion to his family.

Relatives and friends may greet Richard’s family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10:00am, until the start of his Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road in Holland, PA 18966. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad of Northampton and the Union League Legacy Foundation.
