Helen C. Benson (O'Rourke)

Helen C. Benson of Holland, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.  She was 87 years old.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Benson for over 43 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Devlin O’Rourke.

Helen was a longtime faithful parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church.  She was active in their Women’s Club for many years and even had the honor to be elected to president of the club.  Helen was a long time employee of the Bucks County Courthouse and the Solicitor’s office. Helen and Joseph retired to the Villages in Florida where she joined the Red Hat Society.  After a few years of retirement in Florida, Helen returned to Holland.  She loved days spent in Cape May, traveling with her husband and family, a good bus trip, and going to shows with her ladies group at both the Walnut Street Theater and Bristol Riverside Theater.  Known as “The Matriarch” by her numerous cousins, Helen enjoyed good times with her family and would never miss a family event.  Helen will be greatly missed, but eternally loved by everyone who has had the pleasure to have been in her life and loved by her.

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted children Maureen B. Benson of Holland, Eileen P. Jenkins Holland and predeceased by Gary Jenkins, Kathleen E. Blair and her husband John of Warrington, and Joseph P. Benson and his wife Jennifer of Malvern, PA.  She is also survived by her brothers Thomas and his wife Margie and Jack O’Rourke, her sisters Catherine Kimbrell and Margaret Hentz, her grandchildren Jack, Bridget, Joseph, William, Kate and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings on Tuesday Evening, April 16, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and on Wednesday Morning, April 17, 2024 from 9:15 to 10:15 AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and to her Funeral Mass 11:00AM in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road Holland, PA 18966.  Her interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Next Step Program, 204 North West Street, Unit 102 Doylestown, PA 18901
