Harry was deeply devoted to his family, friends, and neighbors. He loved his children and grandchildren relentlessly. He was an active member of St. Bede the Venerable Parish in Holland, PA for over 43 years.
Harry was born in New Kensington, PA where he spent his younger years frequenting “the terrace” with his friends and family. His kids growing up always looked forward to the bi-yearly trips across the turnpike to see their grandparents. He had a passion for Pittsburgh sports, Penn State football, and was an enthusiastic bowler for the Penn State bowling team. It was at Penn State where he met his future wife Kathy. He graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Business Analysis (QBA). While at Penn State, Harry was the president of the bowling club and contributor to the bowling club’s constitution. He continued as a dedicated alumni and season ticket holder for Penn State football.
Harry will be remembered as having a kind, open heart who always welcomed company. His house was a revolving door and he treated his children’s friends, friends of friends and neighbors like family. Harry was heavily involved in his children’s sports teams and enjoyed teaching life lessons, both on and off the field. He helped coach Holland Little League and was a strong supporter of local soccer and hockey teams; rooting for his kids’ teammates as they were his own.
Harry began his career in transportation, distribution, and logistics at Sears and retired from General Electric in 2012. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at Twining Village where he helped the senior community. He had a liking for geography and seized any opportunity behind the wheel to take in all sights on his countless trips to State College, as well as several trips across country. Additional fulfillments included nature, navigating, and traveling the U.S. He was an avid coin collector and was often accompanied by his pet dog Tyson.
Harry will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
