Inge Kornfeld (Klespies)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Inge Kornfeld (Klespies) of Palm Beach Shores, FL, and Ottsville, PA. She was called home to God and reunited with her late husband and love of her life of over 44 years, Hans Kornfeld, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones at Doylestown Hospital, after battling severe COVID-19 pneumonia. She was 87.
Born in a German settlement in Bačka Palanka, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Anna (Schwendemann) Klespies. Prior to World War II, she enjoyed a harmonious, care-free upbinging in a loving, close-knit familial environment with her late maternal grandparents, Josef and Anna (Bohn) Schwendemann; late paternal grandparents, Johann and Katharina (Tiefenbach) Klespies; late paternal aunt, Theresia Klespies; and several dear cousins.
At the tender age of nine, Inge and her family fled their war-torn hometown for their beloved Austria. Here, she enjoyed a wonderful, storybook-like childhood, living in the breathtakingly scenic Salzburg Lake District and surrounding area. She thrived academically and went on to study business. Austria was her adoptive homeland to which she fondly referred as “God’s country.”
In 1951, she and her parents immigrated to America in the hopes of a fresh start in the Land of Opportunity. Less than four years later, both hailing from the very same German village halfway across the world, Hans and Inge began a marriage made in Heaven. They then started a family in 1958.
Given her experiences in her youth, she quickly learned the value of hard work, discipline, generosity, and caring for others. Endowed with stalwart character, she not only dutifully cared for her family as a homemaker but was also determined to join her husband in providing for their family: Her career spanned from General Motors to great success in lifelong real estate ventures.
Her most salient characteristic was her extraordinary generosity—of spirit, time, and means. She valued thorough education and stopped at nothing to see that not only her daughters but also her grandchildren received the best education possible.
Those who knew her best knew that she was most at home out in nature. She would feel her connection to God and great joy and peace simply gardening for hours on end—every day—surrounded by her beloved flowers and vegetable garden.
Inge enjoyed spending time holding intellectually stimulating conversations — especially those concerning politics and natural health — cooking and baking German and Austrian specialties, and playing cards and Rummikub with her beloved daughters.
She will be best remembered and celebrated for her loving heart, abiding care, and unquestionable loyalty to family.
In addition to her daughters, Heidi A. Kornfeld of Palm Beach Shores, FL, and Lori L. Kramer of Ottsville, PA, Inge is survived by her four grandchildren: Kristen L. Kramer-Shimanek (Justin) of Pipersville, PA, Ryan G. Kramer of Boynton Beach, FL, Eric M. Kramer (Catalina) of Pompano Beach, FL, and Alexandra L. Dalessandro (Ryan) of Newtown, PA. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ava Leigh, Kameron Michael, Nina Grace, and Jace Ryan; her cousins, Marlene (also her closest friend) and Markus Novosel (Lucinda), Hilde Emich, Gitta Vasak, Erika Zelisko, and Wilhelm Goldner; and longtime friends Mark Smith, Katharina Tautel, the entire Sun Harbor Family, and the entire Trenton Donauschwaben Family.
Inge’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, December 12th, from 12:00 pm until her Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danube Swabian Association of Trenton, NJ, 127 Route 156, Yardville, NJ 08620.
