Ingeborg G. Ast (Jocher)
Ingeborg G. Ast of Ivyland died peacefully on Sunday May 1, 2022 at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She was 85.
She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Armin Ast.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany she was the daughter of the late Karl and Hilda Off Jocher.
Inge lived a selfless life, loyal, compassionate and inspirational to countless friends and her family. She embodied a ceaseless positivity throughout life, often attributing faithful optimism to her survival of breast cancer. Inge enjoyed decades of bowling with league teammates (Pike Lanes), who nicknamed her “Mighty Mouse” given her fierce talent, petite and masterful with a 13.5lb ball. She loved playing Pinochle with Armin and her friends, as well as cards and board games with her children and grandchildren.
Inge was very fond of classic Country Music for its emotive sincerity. Those songs helped her learn the English language after immigrating to America in 1952 at the age of 16 with her mother. She relished Gospel Music, too and similarly inspirational quotes, which she often wrote in journals and shared with others. She admired nature, spending time quiet with the outdoors, and hours cultivating her flower gardens. Inge shared a kinship with the lofty spirit of birds, most especially her favorite - the red cardinal - a symbol of loyalty and loving relationships, which she reflected truly as a devoted friend, wife, mother, and Schatzi (treasure) to her grandchildren.
She wanted her friends to know that witnessing a cardinal is to be blessed and graced by their beloved in Heaven. Ingeborg will be greatly missed, but eternally remembered by everyone who shared endearing, pleasurable moments throughout life with her, who were so deeply appreciated and loved by her.
In addition to her husband Armin, she is also survived by her devoted children: Eric A. Ast and his wife Elizabeth, Kurt R. Ast and Michael A. Ast and his wife Angela. She was the loving grandmother to, Eric A. II, Alexandria, Rebecca, Zoe and Emmett Ast.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday May 7, 2022, from 9:30am until her Funeral Service 11:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory may be made to either the Hopes and Dreams Foundation, 517 Cedarbrook Rd. Southampton, PA 18966 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, PO Box 98018 Washington DC 20090.
