Joseph M. McKeever
Joseph M. McKeever, of Doylestown, PA passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Pine Run Health Center, Doylestown.
He was 93 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the only son of the late Joseph A. McKeever and Marie Naulty McKeever Gaynor. He was predeceased by his son Joe, who died in 2021. He was a longtime Solebury resident.
Joe is survived by two children and five grandchildren and was referred to affectionately as Christine’s Dad, Joe’s Dad, Matt’s Dad or just Grandpa-Joe. He loved supporting his grandkids in their various sporting activities as well as family and friend affairs with his kids. He was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time at the lake and watching professional sports.
Joe spent his formative years at Girard College where he graduated high school in 1947. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State, followed by graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Industrial Management. Joe served during the Korean War with the Navy Air Patrol Squadron. He spent most of his career at U.S Steel’s Fairless plant in Bucks County in various management positions. Following that he traveled quite a bit, mostly in the States, for a management consulting firm.
He served on various community boards; Solebury Township, New Hope Auto Show, New Hope-Solebury Community Association, and the Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival. Joe demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the Girard College Alumni Association. He published their quarterly online newsletter “Heard on the Main Road,” and volunteered countless hours at Founders Hall with the school’s historic records. Joe was honored by the Girard College Class of 1947 for his years of commitment and was named Director Emeritus by the New Hope-Solebury Community Association in 2021. In addition to his volunteer work, Joe was a proud member of the American Legion in New Hope. Most recently, he kept himself busy with his various inventions, and the newsletter he started for the residents and staff at The Pine Run Health Center.
He is survived by his daughter Christine Vannocker and her husband Michael of Dublin, PA, and his son Matt McKeever and his wife Jennifer of Buckingham, PA. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren; Will (Mary), Dan (Ashley), Dylan, Haley, and Matthew. Joe was always smiling and had a way of making people feel special. His good-natured personality was infectious. He was a friend to everyone he met.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 11:00 am until his Memorial Service at12:15 in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Richboro Road, Richboro, PA. His interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:30PM in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Grey Stone in Newtown immediately following services.
