Robert "Bob" C. Weirman

Robert “Bob” Collier Weirman, 88, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Marie (Strauss) Weirman for 65 years.

Along with his wife, Eleanor, Bob is survived by his sister Barbara (Richard) Jadick; five children, Ken (Wendy) Weirman, Bill Weirman, Randy (Nancee) Weirman, Bruce (Maureen) Weirman, and Cindy Weirman (Frank Rudd); grandchildren, Sawyer (Vincent), Julia (Alex), Samantha (Christopher), Andrew (Jacqueline), Madeline, Bray, and Devon; and great-grandchildren, Liliana, Magnolia, and Luca. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Conroy.

Bob was born December 10, 1934, at Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia to the late Robert J. and Edith A. (Collier) Weirman. He was raised in the West Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended William Rowen Elementary School, Wagner Junior High School, and Central High School in the 198th class, finishing in June 1952.

Bob went on to study at Penn State University in 1953, where he met his wife Eleanor. He graduated in June 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a commission in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. He later attended graduate school at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

After college, Bob entered the Army officer’s artillery basic training for anti-aircraft missiles at El Paso, Texas. He was then assigned to a missile defense station in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Following his military service, Bob served as a civil engineering consultant with the firm Harris, Henry and Potter in Buckingham, Pennsylvania from 1960 to 1961; worked as an engineer at Boeing Corporation in Seattle, Washington from 1961 to 1966; and managed operations at Strauss Engineering Company in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania from 1966 until his retirement in 2007.

Outside of work, Bob loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, reading, traveling, and all things Penn State. He was also a dedicated member of his community, acting as the chairman for the Lower Moreland Township Planning Commission, serving as a Huntingdon Valley Activities Association board member, and running the soccer program for the township for several years.

Bob will be incredibly missed, but always remembered for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, sharp intelligence, immense generosity, charitable endeavors, and unending love for his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the Sisters of The Redeemer Chapel, 521 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. A funeral mass will immediately follow the visitation. Interment will be held privately.
