As the suitor of their daughter Maria, naturally I was a bit nervous meeting Ann & John for the first time back in the mid-eighties. John was understandably the stereotypical skeptical father, but Ann couldn’t have been more gracious and welcoming. And after 35+ years that has never changed. Though impressed with her from the outset, she never ceased to amaze me with her intelligence and compassion for her her family and community. And her way with her grandchildren was magical. “Nonna” was the best grandmother, and for me, best mother-in-law, one could ever wish for. I miss her greatly, but am glad she is at peace. God love you mom.
