Kathleen, Meghan and Ernest, We are all sorry that Ryan's struggle ended. There are 2 songs that are sung by a Christian group named Casting Crowns. The lyrics and music are beautiful. The first, "Praise You in this Storm", here is the chorus; "And I'll praise You in this storm, And I will lift my hands, For You are who You are, No matter where I am, And every tear I've cried, You hold in Your hand, You never left my side, And though my heart is tornI will praise You in this storm". The other song is "Scars in Heaven"; "The only scars in Heaven, They won't belong to me and you, There'll be no such thing as broken, And all the old will be made new, And the thought that makes me smile now, Even as the tears fall down, Is that the only scars in Heaven, yeah, Are on the hands that hold you now". Ryan is safe now, free from pain, fear, and anger. He left with love and asked those around him to look after all of you! Every day will be painful, but lay that burden into God's hands and rest. Trust that God is looking after Ryan as you heal and know that you will ... heal!!!

Kathleen, Ernest and Meghan, I was sorry to hear the news of Ryan’s long battles and his recent passing. My sincere condolences. I am literally sitting on the sofa reading a get well card he sent me after my heart surgery on June of 2003. I enjoyed coaching him in little league and I will always remember his smile.
