"Arthur William Bloom -- What an outstanding and fruitful life!
It has been my privilege and happiness to have known him and his fabulous life-long love and partner, Rena, for oh so many years. Just to call them friends and, also, to know that many of his "mentorees" will treasure his times with them and will always have a place in their hearts for Prof Bloom. What a very special gift he was, especially to his family.
Arthur will be "Gone With The Wind" (the song not the novel) and truly be missed by all."
Condolences for Arthur William Bloom
Dearest Dr. Bloom (even though you wished it, I never could quite bring myself to calling you Arthur). This was primarily due to the level of respect I had for you and all that you stood for.
As an exchange student that met you for the first time at JFK airport, we initiated a long lasting friendship running back to your car in what could only have been described as a horrendous down pour of rain!
You welcomed my friends and I to your country, to the university and your home.
In later years it was always wonderful catching up with you when you visited England (UK), as well as having the pleasure of introducing you to my wife on two occasions.
You were and remain an inspiration to me and I treasure the time I spent with you and the exchange of cultural and historical stories (not least the amusing ones).
Rest in peace Dr. Bloom, for you shall be remembered…always.
