From all of us at the Penn & Drexel Newman Center, we want to send our love and prayers to Matt & his family! We always appreciated Matt's love for the Church & its mission, and were inspired by his dedication to helping through the efforts of the Ambassador's Fund. We will continue to pray for all the McCloskey family and those who mourn his loss.

Colleen,
I’ll never forget coming to dinner with all your family on a ND football weekend. There must have been 20-25 people there and the laughter was constant. Your dad sat contentedly at the head of the table, soaking it all in and he also paid for everyone’s dinner. What a special human being. Send love and support your way.

The MCcloskey Family,

Matt was My Classmate at St. Joseph's Prep where He was an excellent student and excelled in Math and even studied Greek. I stayed friends with Matt for seven decades and He was my Financial Advisor at McCloskey Financial Group. He was an astute investor and an outstanding option writing.

Matt was steeped in His Catholic Faith and A Christian Gentleman. At Mass, He liked to pray and sing which I found inspirational, Matt and I were with A Jesuit who wondered why He never became A Priest.

Matts' Priorities were His Faith, Wife[Donna], His Children, and His Many Friends. He was truly A Man for Others[Altruism].

I was truly blessed to have known This Fine and Saintly Man-"May Matthew McCloskey IV Rest In Eternal Peace".

John Bruce Schmitt- Prep Friend

We are deeply saddened to hear of Matt McCloskey's passing. Matt was not just a skilled financial manager; he was also a wonderful friend to my father and our family. His guidance, wisdom, and unwavering dedication played a pivotal role in ensuring a comfortable and secure retirement for my father. Matt's warm personality, coupled with his professional expertise, made him much more than just a financial advisor; he was a cherished friend and his spirit continues within the MFG family. Please know that you are in our thoughts during this difficult time. We will always remember Matt fondly and are grateful for the time we had with him. His legacy, both professionally and personally, will not be forgotten.

I’ll never forget the times that Matt and I connected through the years through our children at Holy Child, professionally as a teacher, and also in financial guidance. Not only did we share the same age but even the same birthday, which I just learned. His kindness and great heart will never be forgotten. Greg and I send love and prayers to all of the family

Donna: Sabina and I share your grief. Matt was a really terrific guy and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. This is getting really scarry for me because this year many of my good friends from my classes at Villanova and SJP have died, and now Matt who was my classmate at SJP and Waldron. There is really only one way to describe Matt and that is he was truly a gift to humanity! When our youngest son (4 boys) was ready for high school, we were planning to send him to The Hill School in Pottstown PA. Matt asked me why not SJP? I said there was no boarding option there and he said your son can live with us and attend The Prep. Who else would do a thing like that? I’m sure he has a Reserved Parking Space in heaven. RIP Matt, you’re as good as they come.

I had the privilege of knowing Matt in many different capacities.

I met Matt at a Waldron Academy event. He was a gentleman and very passionate about Waldron.

I got to know Matt through the Serra Club of Philadelphia. He was inspirational to all of its members, from the Philadelphia Club, the other District Clubs, and Serra International. The entire Serra Club Organization benefited from Matt's charisma and dedication for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.

Last, in my professional life, I knew Matt through the Ambassador's Fund for Catholic Education and McCloskey Financial.

Matt is a great guy and will be missed by those of us who he has touched. My condolences to Donna and his entire family.

Mr McCloskey was a great friend of Catholic Education. We at DeSales are grateful for all we received from the Ambassador grant. We are praying for the family and we are sure Matt McCloskey is watching over his family and friends
God Bless his soul.

Dear McCloskey Family,

Jennifer and I wish to extend our sincere condolences on Matthew’s passing. As I read through the many tributes to Matt and his great kindness I remembered the first time Jen and I met him back in the 1980s. Matt had never met either of us but as we sat at dinner (with Robert and Colleen) he spoke eloquently and passionately about his love of family and good friends—and how important it was for “young people” like us to understand those values. Jen and I had an immediate connection with him and felt so blessed to be the beneficiaries of his “Matt” wisdom. A small story, but illustrative of the oversized impact he had on so many through his life.

God bless you all.

On behalf of the Office of Catholic Education, I offer condolences to all of the McCloskey family. For the 40 years I have worked at the Archdiocese, Matt was a constant and exuberant supporter of Catholic education at all levels. His legacy and the legacy of his father and grandfather have steadied and strengthened our schools. These efforts helped us start our development programs of the schools and have evolved into the re-envisioned Ambassador's Fund that we know today. We are eternally grateful. Well done thy good and faithful servant.

I will miss seeing Matt at Serra gatherings. He & Donna were friends of my parents, & to Fred & me. He had an astute mind, and a quick wit, with that Irish sparkle in his eyes. May he rest in God's Peace. And I will pray for Donna & Sean, & all the family to feel God's Comfort & Strength.

We lost a great person- simple yet very pious and generous. I had a chance to meet him on one occasion at Bob and Gerry Manturuk's house at Pennsylvania on my visit to Ocean City during the summer. May his soul rest in peace and my heartfelt condolences to all family members!
